Please join us on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm EDT for a CASC sponsored community workshop meeting on research computing and data ROI-related topics. The workshop will be followed by a virtual social hour.

The full agenda is available on the CASC website.

The goals of this workshop are to:

  • Bring more people into a discussion around ROI-related topics, both financial and non-financial (academic and research impact).
  • Bring institutions to a better awareness of existing current best practices already used at their peer institutions with respect to ROI measurement and reporting.
  • Present results of CASC community-oriented Cloud and Data Center Usage Survey and improve formulation of survey for next time.

The workshop will be broken down into three one hour sessions. The first hour will focus on the background of the CASC “ROI for Academic Uses of Data Centers and Clouds” working group efforts to date. The second hour will include perspective from other entities that are involved in similar efforts – CaRRC, NAG, and Virginia Tech. The third hour will consist of facilitated breakout discussions, report outs, and next steps.

This workshop is open to the entire research computing and data community, and CASC encourages participation from those who have strong interest in ROI for our field.

The workshop will take place from 1 pm until 4 pm EDT on Tuesday October 13, 2020, and it will be followed by a virtual social hour.

Official CASC Meetings are open to CASC Institution Member Representatives and invited guests only; however, this CASC Community Workshop is open to all in the research computing field. There is no cost for this virtual event.
